Worship is part of our identity as Christians. It is our response to the presence of God.
Worship is our destiny because it is the primary activity of heaven
C.S. Lewis said, "we delight to worship and we can't help doing it." We are created to worship God. For that reason, the worship ministry of First Baptist exists to give believers the platform to serve God through biblical expressions of praise. It is our desire--our holy mission--to lead others to the presence of God through the arts.
You will find a variety of teams which accomplish our goals in ministry. Check out the groups, the special worship events and see how God can use you to accomplish His purposes!
The Celebration Choir is the main worship choir of the church. They sing in each worship service and present special worship events throughout the year. The Celebration Choir has recorded three CDs and have sung with artists like Geron Davis, Phil Cross, Luke Garrett and others. The Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7 pm in the Music Suite.
The Celebration Choir rehearsals include preparation of worship music, review of the upcoming worship plan, a time of discipling by Worship Pastor Mike Anderson, and a season of prayer.
Joining the choir is easy! Simply attend a rehearsal for assignments or make an appointment with Mike Anderson.
The Worship Team is the group of instrumental and vocal musicians who lead in worship services and special worship events. This group is currently comprised of piano, synthesizer, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. We often add other instruments too! The Worship Team rehearses Tuesdays at 6:30 pm in the Worship Center. To audition for the group, simply contact Worship Pastor Mike Anderson to schedule an appointment.
KidsPraise is our children's music time. Children grade 1-5 meet in Fellowship Hall on Wednesdays at 6 pm to learn great upbeat praise and worship songs, and the reason we sing to the Lord. The kids learn and participate in great songs with lots of movement and energy. The kids are led by a great group oflead worshippers including Sandy Gilbert, Gail Morris, Heather Daniell, and April Ludwick. Bring your kids and be a part of a great Wednesday praise time!
Music Time Choir is an adorable group of preschool musicians! These children love the Lord and are receiving their first experiences in the worship of God. Through movement, instruments, and motion, these children learn how to worship, who to worship, and why we worship. They are led by Shellie Wagner and Jenifer Brooks. They meet on the Preschool Hall Wednesdays at 6 pm.
Elevate is our new Student Worship Choir. Students who are in middle school and high school are invited to worship with this group with dynamic arrangements of great worship songs. Whether you like to sing or play and instrument, this group is for you. They are directed by Worship Pastor Mike Anderson and meet Sundays at 4 pm in the Music Suite.
Mixed Ensemble is a six-voice group of men and women who sing in worship services and otherspecial events. From Southern Gospel to a capella to edgy-contemporary praise, this group is a wonderful voice of musicians who love the Lord. For more information about this group, contact Mike Anderson.
Tech Team is our group of dedicated men and women who work through audio, video, iMag, and lighting to help create seamless worship experiences.This team not only produce a beautiful worship environment, they also produce our worship videos, media for the cafe, and special worship events, weddings, funerals, kindergarten programs, seminars, and more. We are always looking for tech-savvy believers who want to share their gifts back to the Lord and to His church.
